To all State Association members of U.S. Soccer:
As part of an NGB needs assessment conducted by the Center for SafeSport, it has asked U.S. Soccer to gather data related to reports of emotional
and/or physical misconduct in U.S. Soccer and its Local Affiliated Organizations (i.e., our State Associations). U.S. Soccer asks that you please reply
by December 15, 2020 to Alison Kocoras at akocoras@ussoccer.org with the following statistics for your organization for the time periods of January 1, 2019 through December 31, 2019, and, separately, from January 1, 2020 through the date you submit the information:
- Total reported incidents of alleged emotional and physical misconduct. (“Incident” means a report made to your organization by any method you provide for reporting misconduct.
- Total number of investigations of alleged emotional and physical misconduct.
- Total number of violations for emotional and physical misconduct. (“Violation” means situations where an investigation has been conducted and misconduct is found to have occurred.)
be included. Please feel free to include in-game incidents if the conduct was unusually severe or if it resulted in a determination of permanent ineligibility or disqualification for the actor. Also, please note that the reported incidents should not include sexual misconduct as defined by the SafeSport Code.
Thank you very much for your cooperation in gathering this information as part of our ongoing mission to protect the safety of our players, coaches, referees, and all other participants in our sport. Please don’t hesitate to contact Alison Kocoras, akocoras@ussoccer.org, 312.741.5788, with any questions about this request.
